The Women On The 6th Floor (Les femmes du 6e étage) 2010

The movie is around the early 1960’s when a couple’s life changed because of the Spanish maids at the 6th floor.

Jean-Louis Joubert is an uptight affluent man who owns the building where the Spanish maids live. His wife Suzanne, is a nice woman, but very class-conscious and seems to always seek the approval of her friends in the society. They have two arrogant boys who are in a boarding school.

For a long time, Jean-Louis, who works as a stockbroker and part owner of the company, had a boring life. When he met up Maria, their new Spanish maid and eventually became friends with the rest of the Spanish maids, who lived at the 6th floor of his building, things changed for the better for Jean-Louis, as how he sees it.

I love how Jean-Louis helped without asking for anything in return or any motives from these Spanish maids. He enjoyed their company and treated them as his friends.

Some things went out of hand eventually but I guess these events happen for a reason.

The movie shows that sometimes, even if society is questioning your actions and even if it’s not the usual, but it truly makes you happy, you must embrace it without question because it is your life. No one has a say on it but just you.

It’s a story of friendship, respect, trust, hope, and love.
